In an effort to enhance my Unreal Engine skills, I created an outdoor environment featuring abandoned sci-fi elements, integrated into the landscape as though they’ve been there for centuries. My goal was to blend these futuristic structures seamlessly with nature, creating a sense of history and mystery in the scene.
From a technical standpoint, I focused on optimizing performance by minimizing texture and shader draw calls. The ground shader I developed utilizes a blend of five texture sets to create a rich and varied terrain. Additionally, I modeled key assets including rocks, grass, mushrooms, and the abandoned sci-fi elements, ensuring that each component contributed to the overall cohesiveness and atmosphere of the environment.
